Who are you?

I’m the Owner/Photographer of Dark Stars Photography; I have been genetically altered into some form of creature. Not sure what though? Lol possibly a possum monster or cookie bat?

What started Dark Stars photography?

For the longest time I always had a strong interest in Photography. In elementary school and High school I was always the popular one out of the group that always had one of those cheap disposable cameras. Taking photos of friends random objects and graffiti. And after discovering how long it has ran in my family I was pretty shocked. Instead of doing the nature and scenic route my father and grandfather did I wanted an approach in the beauty world of photography. I’m a total geek, movie fanatic, video game dork, and of course love vintage sci-fi. So I sat there and said okay I will incorporate a lot of what I do into the photos I take. I use to paint, draw, released a music album and now I’m working on a small independent movie. All these things have helped out a lot to help me incorporate my tastings into the photos we do.

What best describes you?

Yikes..Lol i guess at first I’m shy, and then once you get to know me I’m like….a Tim Burton character come to life. Easy going to, laid back..a little to laid back at times lol

What is the future of DS?

I want to make it grow, I want people to appreciate that not having to pose nude can still have you going in a successful direction with modeling. I want people to come get a photo set, then when they see the end result they grin and say “Omg that’s me?!” If we don’t become very commercial delivering smiles on people’s faces is good enough.

What are your deepest inspirations?

There is a lot that has inspired me over the years to do what we do. Stylized, over the top, weird but sexy photos. One of the biggest influences is the drive to create realism. To literally take things and change them up and make it look real, to make it look like “Whoa dude is that in space?” lol. One of the biggest inspirations to me personally is past family, I seriously got a lot of deep roots in the ground of past and current family members. Another thing that inspires me is Germany…yes you heard me straight up Germany. Beautiful architect, life style, fashion ect. I look at what they have done in the past of their North American to German conversions and its just way better. Alot of people have described what we do is European influenced. So hey that’s good isn’t it? Lol

What’s your favourite photo set?

Daniela Dibs snow white!!! Effing snow white come to life, that’s why it was so fun lol.

Favourite model?

C’mon I can’t say lol that would start a forest fire.

What do you want people to know when they work with DS?

Just to have fun, be themselves. We have worked with people that are so uptight . Just let loose , the worlds not watching here lol. Besides having fun during a photo shoot produces way better photos and genuine reaction.
